Hi, I’m Nicole Barrett, and I’m running for Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney in 2026.
For nearly two decades, I’ve practiced law, built a small business, and served families and communities who needed someone to stand up for what’s right. I’ve had dozens of conversations with friends, neighbors, and community members asking why I’ve decided to run. The answer is simple: the law should protect all of us, not just some of us.
In my legal career, I’ve seen what happens when justice isn’t applied fairly. Victims feel abandoned. Communities lose trust. And people in power walk away without accountability. Cedar County deserves better. We need a prosecutor who will take every case seriously—no matter who the defendant is, or who they know.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard.

After careful thought, prayer, and countless conversations, I’m officially announcing my candidacy for Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney.
I’m running because I believe justice should be equal—for everyone. Not based on who you know, what your name is, or how much money you have.
In recent years, too many in our community have lost faith in a system that’s supposed to protect them. When serious crimes—especially those against children—go unprosecuted while favoritism thrives, we all lose trust in the law.
That’s why I’m stepping up: to restore fairness, integrity, and transparency to the prosecutor’s office. I’ll fight for victims, hold offenders accountable, and apply the law without fear or favor.
That’s how justice is supposed to work—and that’s how it will work when I’m your Prosecutor.
